Basic Properties
Trading Properties
The knotter clutch anvil 700144454 is the stationary friction face that the knotter clutch arm presses against to stop the knotter shaft at the end of each tie cycle. It acts as the brake shoe of the knotter drive: if the anvil face wears concave or glazes, the shaft overruns, the bill hooks stop out of time and the baler starts dropping missed or double knots.
Because the anvil is small and inexpensive but controls the timing of the whole knotter stack, it is one of the highest value consumables on a large square baler. Replacing it together with the clutch arm restores a crisp stop, and the operator immediately notices the cleaner knot quality and the disappearance of the knocking that appeared when the shaft was coasting.
Key Features- Hardened friction face machined flat to give consistent stopping torque from the first tie of the season.
- Correct thickness maintained so that clutch adjustment range and spring preload stay within factory limits.
- Bolt on replacement using the original mounting holes, with no machining or shimming needed.
- Wear resistant surface treatment reduces glazing and keeps the stopping point repeatable under dust and chaff.
- Compact 0.62 kg body is easy to store as a service part and quick to change in the field.
- Manufactured to the original AGCO drawing so it interchange with the factory anvil without modification.

Used on Massey Ferguson MF 2150, MF 2170, MF 2170XD, MF 2250, MF 2270, MF 2270XD and MF 2290 balers and on Challenger LB34BXD, 2270XD, CH LB34, CH LB34B and CH LB44B models. Service intervals on high hour machines justify keeping several anvils in stock, since the part is cheap relative to the cost of a missed tie that jams the knotter and stops the baler mid field.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceAnvils are wrapped in rust preventive paper, boxed in multiples of ten with the part number on each carton, and consolidated on pallets for export. Because the units are small and light, they are also ideal for air freight top ups or for combining with heavier items such as knives and hitches in a single consolidated shipment.
We recommend replacing the anvil whenever the clutch arm is renewed, as a worn face will quickly damage a new arm. Tell us the number of knotters on your machine and we will quote the matching set quantity.
